After the words of thanks, Minister Mehaj mentioned an important fact related to the city of Burrel and the municipality of Mati, emphasizing that: “At the head of our liberation war was the legendary commander Adem Jashari, he and many KLA soldiers were trained in Albania, specifically in Burrel and while I was coming along the road I felt that I was getting closer to our commander, I was getting closer to the source of preparation and organization of the KLA, the Mati municipality district, I was getting closer to Burrel.
As I stated on the 100th anniversary of Albania's independence, when I received the medal from the Chief of General Staff of the AFRA, Mr. Xhemail Gjunkshi, that: “I am from Kosovo and love for the homeland, for Albania and the Albanian people is sacred to me. I bow with my soul and heart to the national flag”, I say this even today here in front of you.
Our path to freedom and citizenship passed right through you, through this place where we are today. Today, 25 years later, we are here again in this country with which our past and future are closely connected.
On behalf of myself and the Kosovar Albanians, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We will never forget what you did for us.
Finally, I want to congratulate you on the work you have done and are doing in the service of the citizens here, to improve their lives and conditions.
I want us to always serve them with dedication and humility because these people deserve a lot.
Visit Kosovo as often as possible, we always welcome you with open arms.
