At the ceremony participated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, Deputy Ministers Gegë Lleshi and Enis Kervan, the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, the Deputy Commander of the KSF, Major General Enver Cikaqi, the Director of Operations at NATO Headquarters, Charlotte Hallengren, as well as military personnel and institutional representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the KSF, and NALT. At this event also participated other local and international representatives and invitees.
On this occasion, Brigadier General Sven Lange emphasized: “Advising requires knowledge and experience. Its cornerstone is mutual trust. And advising can be successful only if there is the goodwill to accept it. Therefore, I am particularly pleased with the presence of so many representatives of security organizations in Kosovo, who have come here today.”
The new Director of the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team, Brigadier General Thomas Schulte-Borghoff, praised the achievements of his predecessor and emphasized that he hopes to continue the same path: “I look forward to continuing the path that you have followed. You have laid a strong cornerstone, and for me it is a privilege to work with such a wonderful team,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, stated that the contribution of Brigadier General Dr. Lange has been in a spirit of cooperation, being an important partner in institutional strengthening and in advancing the transformation of the defense sector in Kosovo. The Minister concluded his speech by emphasizing that his mandate in Kosovo leaves behind a legacy of trust, professionalism, and strategic partnership. He expressed gratitude and high appreciation for the contribution of Brigadier General Dr. Lange, whom he awarded with the Medal for Distinguished Service.
During the ceremony, the Commander of the KSF, Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, honored Brigadier General Dr. Sven Lange with the Medal for Selfless Service, while the Director of Operations at NATO Headquarters, Charlotte Hallengren, honored Brigadier General Dr. Sven Lange with the NATO Medal for operations outside Article 5.
Since August 2016, NALT, in accordance with its mission, continuously provides support to build defense capacities and to professionally develop security organizations in Kosovo, including the Kosovo Security Force – within the initial mandate for civil protection.
