Academic Career

Gafurr Dugolli was born on June 11, 1975, in the village of Nekoc, in the municipality of Drenas. He completed his primary education in his village and attended high school with a focus on mathematics and natural sciences in Drenas. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of History, and a Master’s degree in European Integration and Public Administration from the Department of Political Sciences at the “Hasan Prishtina” Public University in Prishtina.

Professional and Institutional Military Career

At the beginning of 1998, as a student in the Faculty of Philology, Department of English Language and Literature, he was forced to quit his studies and joined the liberation war within the Kosovo Liberation Army, serving until the end of the war. After the liberation of the country, he continued his service as a military officer in the Kosovo Protection Corps, holding various staff and command responsibilities in the First Protection Zone and the General Staff of the KPC until 2007.

After the disbandment of the KPC, he worked for three consecutive years as the deputy director of a construction company. In 2011, he began working at the Ministry of the Kosovo Security Force (now the Ministry of Defense) as Head of the Protocol Unit, a position he successfully held until 2021, after which he transitioned to Head of the Euro-Atlantic Integration Sector at the Ministry of Defense.
Since October 2023, he served as Acting General Secretary of the Ministry of Defense until September 11, 2024, when he was officially appointed Secretary General with a full mandate by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
Throughout his 25-year commitment in the KPC, MKSF, and now in the MoD, Mr. Dugolli has successfully completed numerous courses and trainings at various NATO schools and centers, as well as in partner countries such as the USA, Germany, Türkiye, and others.

Family and Passions

He is fluent in English and Serbian language. Lives in Prishtina with his family, including his mother Fetije, wife Besa, and daughter Alketa, a student of medicine.
His special passions and hobbies include hiking in nature, football, and chess.
